AbstractThere exist cognitive differences on Taiwan history between the people across the Strait. In order to fill the gap, first of all, it is necessary for both sides to gain a clear understanding of these differences and make a fine distinction between right and wrong before the consensus can be reached on the right basis. This paper makes a list of five major cognitive differences onTaiwan history since ancient times, and at the same time, offers the writers personal views which are different from those of the public from both sides of the Strait. The writer hopes that these views will be conducive to the promotion ofthecross-Strait common cognitionthrough debate and discussion.
